I think “hope” or “blind faith” kind of over rides common sense too. I don’t know how many situations like this I endured while I was a musician with shady managers, pending label agreements, people that could “make you big” – yet everytime I’d have this shred of hope that it was factual.

Actually maybe it IS all tied back to ego.

Ah, all the warning signs were there, yet you still were going to do it, until the very end. Our egos often seem to override our common sense, even when we get clear cut warnings. I’m glad you backed out in time. Thanks for the post, it give us all a warning to stay focused and be careful.
