Taylor Swift’s House

“We are never ever, ever getting back together…” The Queen of Millennials, Taylor Swift became the youngest artist ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house shortly after she moved from her native Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee at 14 years old. Two years later, the blonde songbird released her self-titled debut album in 2006 just as her third hit single, “Our Song,” climbed to the top of the charts. Now known for pouring her heart into songs like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Shake It Off” and “Love Story,” the 26-year-old has a burgeoning career that shows no signs of slowing down with legions of loyal fans and best friends from today’s reigning squad of young, hot celebrities.

Ranked among Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World, Forbes magazine’s “Top Earning Women in Music” and “100 Most Powerful Women, it comes as no surprise that the four-time Grammy Award winner was also Billboard’s Top Moneymaker in 2015. Currently worth $200 million and obviously worlds apart from mere mortals like the rest of us, Swift seemingly has the Midas touch when it comes to her music and everything else as the young star already has a real estate portfolio worth $70 million and climbing to her name.

Whether she’s an astute investor or has one on speed dial, Swift has no qualms about spending her money on lavish property with her first acquisition in Music City where she moved with her family as a teenager to give herself a better chance of breaking into the country music scene. Finding incredible success early on, she demonstrated a keen eye for real estate investing when she purchased a $2 million penthouse in downtown Nashville as well as a brick mansion in one of Nashville’s prime suburban neighborhoods. While Swift has since sold the mansion (and earned a profit), she still keeps the penthouse for a quick place to stay when she’s hanging out in Nashville with her long list of country music friends.

At the height of her Conor Kennedy romance, Swift purchased a mansion in Massachusetts but later sold the estate for a cool profit of $1 million less than a year after purchasing. Using her investment money from her vast earnings and profits, the “Blank Space” singer acquired additional properties in Los Angeles, Rhode Island and New York. So which one is her absolute favorite?

While Swift’s Los Angeles home is a refurbished 1941 Cape Cod with four bedrooms and a picket fence, her Rhode Island waterfront mansion is just as exquisite with its seven bedrooms nestled in the Tony Watch Hill subdivision that is perfect for a queen and her hive as they mug for selfies to share with millions of adoring fans on social media. However, nothing compares to Swift’s pride and enjoy—her New York penthouse in the celebrity enclave of Tribeca.

Located on Franklin Street where the impeccably dressed Swift is often sighted among friends, Swift purchased two side-by-side lofts—one to house her security detail and the other a 4,400 square foot penthouse for herself—for $19.9 million to signal a shift in her business model—from country crooner to international pop star. The 2014 acquisition was marked by the release of another Swift anthem called “Welcome to New York” in which all proceeds were donated to the New York City Department of Education. What a way to win over the Big Apple! As a result, the penthouse quickly became one of New York’s hottest hangouts for those lucky enough to be invited into Swift’s inner circle.

Obviously hitting the jackpot when the universe allocated talents and resources, Swift is not only a triple threat in the entertainment industry, she’s also a domestic goddess. Known for baking cookies for her friends and fans, she also enjoys whipping up gourmet feasts in her state-of-the-art urban kitchen featuring marble countertops, stainless steel appliances, a vintage backsplash and stark white countertops with a wall of windows letting in an overabundance of natural light. She even redefines what it means to be a “bestie” by spending her free time designing personalized gifts for her family and friends when she’s not on tour!

Aside from the luxurious kitchen, the New York City penthouse is the perfect hideaway for creative minds like Swift thanks to 12-foot high beamed ceilings, wide-planked hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, vintage fixtures and wood wainscoting that enhance every room. However, that isn’t to say that Swift hasn’t added her own personal and whimsical touches to her Big Apple abode.

At first glance, the living room has a more grown up feel with its exposed wood beams, wainscoting and vintage lighting but has added comfort thanks to the massive fireplace and ample seating—first tested for comfort and approved by Meredith and Olivia Benson, Swift’s feline companions—to accommodate large gatherings of Swift’s many friends. Here, Swift’s quirkiness and youth prevail and give the home character with small details such as the number lights, unique paintings and acoustic guitars that decorate the walls.

Moving to Swift’s favorite aspect of being a homeowner, loft-style entertaining definitely brings out the singer’s eclectic tastes where the great room is decorated with vintage globe lights and exposed wood posts. At the end of the evening, guests are then ushered up an antique staircase where guest rooms resemble old, elegant New York with exposed brick walls, iron headboards and beds that were handpicked by Swift herself. Sparing no expense on the remainder of the penthouse, the library is a masterpiece in itself with casually stuffed bookshelves, an extravagant grand piano and gorgeous city views from atop the Swift manor.

Of course, Swift hasn’t been the only celebrity to enjoy the exquisite Franklin Street views of Tribeca. First owned by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, Sir Jackson’s hobbit haven consisted of two apartments, which worked out perfectly for the young Swift. Although it took quite some time for Swift to take over the smaller apartment since Gandalf—Sir Ian McKellen himself—was still in occupancy as a permanent guest, it looks like things have finally fallen into place for the Princess of Pop in terms of her career and home. As for her dating life, now that’s another story!
